​Russian battalions stationed in Chechnya go to Syria to protect Russian airbase Hmeymim

Moscow. 8 December. INTERFAX – Russian military Guard installations in Chechnya will take two battalions of special forces to Syria, wrote on Thursday the newspaper “Izvestia”, citing informed sources in the Russian Defense Ministry.
According to the sources, in late November, the battalions  have been reformed to the military police (CAP) and prepared to be sent to Syria before the end of December, they will complete the deployment and proceed to the protection of the Russian military facilities.

“Interfax” has no official confirmation of this information.

Meanwhile, the “News” note that both battalions have extensive combat experience: they took part in the elimination of terrorists in the mountainous regions of Chechnya, participated in the operation to force Georgia to peace in 2008 and guarded by Russian deminers in Lebanon in 2006.
