500 British NATO troops arrived in Latvia to take part as Rapid Response Unit in the exercise “Sylver Arrow”

  • Rapid Response Unit especially in case of need can be deployed in Latvia within 48 hours, said the chief of operations division for the integration of NATO Lieutenant-Colonel Simon Bedmen forces arriving at the “Silver Arrow” doctrine.


“Rapid Response Unit especially if the fifth paragraph of the NATO treaty will be used, should first arrive at the scene, a maximum of two days,” – said S.Bedmen.

On Sunday, they arrived in Latvia about 500 British troops who, together with colleagues from other countries until October 31, will take part in the exercise “Silver Arrow”.

S.Bedmen said that the purpose of the exercise is that the forces of different countries as possible to cooperate better with each other.

He noted that now the forces of special rapid reaction leads Spain, and from January it will be Great Britain.
